TL;DR
  • What it is: Attio CRM is a flexible, AI-native CRM where you build your own data model, priced from $44 per seat per month or $35 billed annually.
  • What worked: Ask Attio gave accurate answers, and connecting Attio to Claude with MCP created a company, note, deal, and task in one request.
  • What didn’t: Enrichment got two of nine companies wrong, the CSV importer created nameless contacts, and recording an internal call took a hidden shortcut.
  • The catch: Call recording needs Pro ($79 per seat annually) plus permission to send email from your Gmail, and AI use costs about 18 credits per request.
  • Best for: Startups and teams of up to 10 who want to shape their own CRM and are happy to pair it with a dedicated call recorder.

I set up a blank Attio CRM workspace, imported a batch of fake customers, ran a mock sales call with a colleague, and then let Claude write to the CRM for me. Some of it impressed me. Some of it made me open a support article at 9am with a meeting starting in six minutes.

Attio is the CRM a lot of startups are switching to right now, and the marketing is loud: “the CRM for agentic revenue.” So I wanted to know what you actually get for your money, where the limits are, and how it fits with the tools you already use to capture calls.

Here’s everything I found, including the parts that didn’t work. Feel free to skip to the Attio pricing calculator.

What Is Attio CRM?

Attio is a flexible, AI-native CRM that lets you build your own data model of objects, records, and lists instead of bending your sales process around fixed fields. It was founded by Nicolas Sharp and Alexander Christie, is headquartered in London and San Francisco, and has raised $116 million, including a $52 million Series B led by GV in August 2025. At that point it had 5,000 paying customers, including Lovable, Modal, and Replicate.

The pitch hasn’t changed much since TechCrunch described it as “the CRM for the Airtable generation” back in 2021. Traditional CRM systems like Salesforce and HubSpot give you a fixed structure of contacts, companies, and deals, then charge you (in money or admin hours) to change it. Attio starts with a spreadsheet-like database and lets you add whatever objects your business actually runs on: investors, partners, candidates, or properties. If you’ve read my HubSpot review, Attio has the opposite philosophy: fewer built-in marketing tools, much more freedom.

The AI layer is new and moving fast. Attio’s 2026 changelog shows Ask Attio (its chat assistant) arriving in February, an MCP server on February 19, and a rebuilt Workflows platform with AI agents on June 9.

How Much Does Attio Cost in 2026?

Attio costs $0 on the Free plan, $44 per seat per month on Plus ($35 billed annually), and $99 per seat per month on Pro ($79 billed annually), with custom pricing for Enterprise. Prices were checked on October 5, 2026, after a July 2026 repricing, so older guides quoting $29 and $69 are out of date.

Attio pricing plans in USD billed annually: Free, Plus $35, Pro $79, Enterprise custom

If you’re outside the US, Attio prices locally rather than converting. UK buyers pay £34 per month on Plus (£27 annually) and £74 on Pro (£59 annually). EU buyers pay €39 and €93 monthly (€31 and €74 annually), which makes Pro noticeably pricier in euros than in pounds.

The two most important things on that table: Plus caps you at 10 seats, so a growing team hits Pro sooner than expected; and everything AI-related runs on credits.

Free and Plus have seat caps (3 and 10). Credit packs add to the shared workspace pool and aren’t available on Free.

How Do Attio Credits Work?

Every Ask Attio question, AI attribute, and AI workflow step spends credits. Each seat gets a monthly allowance (100 on Free, 500 on Plus, 1,000 on Pro), and when someone runs out, they start drawing from a shared workspace pool (250, 1,500, or 10,000 a month). Free workspaces can’t buy more; paid plans can add packs starting at $70 a month on annual billing.

I tracked my own usage. Six Ask Attio messages, including two that built workflows, used 106 seat credits, or roughly 18 credits per request. At that rate, a Plus seat covers about 28 AI requests a month and a Pro seat about 56 before the shared pool kicks in. Light users won’t notice. A rep who asks the CRM for help ten times a day will.

Is There a Free Plan or Free Trial?

Yes to both. The Free plan covers up to three seats, 50,000 records, and three objects, which is enough for a solo founder or a tiny team. Every new workspace also starts on a 14-day Pro trial automatically, and Attio doesn’t ask for a card until the trial ends. That’s what I used and it was smooth to set up.

If you’re comparing costs across your stack, Dani’s guide to the most affordable AI meeting note taker for startups covers the call-recording side of the budget.

What Happened When I Tested Attio?

Attio did most things well, but almost every feature needed a second attempt or a workaround. Fair disclosure: I don’t usually use CRMs in day-to-day life. The closest I get is Notion.

Over five days I imported test data, used the AI assistant, built workflows, recorded a mock sales call on Google Meet, and connected Attio to Claude. Here’s the scorecard.

What Are Attio’s Main Features?

Attio’s core features are a customizable data model, automatic email and calendar sync with data enrichment, an AI assistant called Ask Attio, AI-built workflows, and (on Pro) call recording. Here’s how each one held up.

Custom Objects, Lists, and Pipelines

Out of the box you get People, Companies, and Deals, with a Kanban pipeline for deals. You can add custom objects in Settings, under Objects: Free allows three, Plus five, Pro 12, and Enterprise unlimited. The default deal stages are Lead, In Progress, Won, and Lost, so you’ll want to edit them before importing deals with your own stage names. I didn’t, and that came back to bite me later.

Email Sync and Data Enrichment

Connect Gmail or Outlook, and Attio builds your contact list from your inbox, links people to companies, and scores connection strength. It also enriches company records automatically. I imported nine company domains, and within seconds each record had a description, location, founding date, funding, and social links.

Most of it was right. Two records weren’t. Figma’s X account came back as an unrelated education account with 1,567 followers, and its “headquarters” was a university address. Notion was renamed “Great Notion Support Services.” The firmographics (funding, size, LinkedIn) held up; the social handles and addresses were a coin toss.

That’s not unique to Attio. Researchers have documented that AI text generation is “prone to hallucinate unintended text”, and enrichment that leans on AI inherits the problem. If outreach depends on these fields, spot-check them or compare a few data enrichment tools first.

Importing Your Data

Attio’s CSV importer matched my email, job title, and company domain columns automatically, but left first and last name unmapped. It didn’t bother to tell me about it either. The result was six contacts called “Unnamed person.” Map the name columns by hand before you click Continue.

A second lesson was my own fault. My test file used fake .example domains, and Attio dropped those rows altogether rather than flagging them. Real data shouldn’t have this problem, but it shows that the importer prefers to let you make mistakes rather than alert you to them. Attio also has a built-in Migrate CRM tool if you’re moving from another CRM, but I wasn’t able to test this.

Ask Attio and AI Workflows

Ask Attio is the best part of the product. I asked which deals had no next step. It pointed out that my Deals object had no “next step” field, used “next due task” instead, listed two deals, and noted that one was already lost and probably didn’t need chasing. That’s what a good assistant does: answers the question you meant without pretending the data says something it doesn’t.

The AI workflow builder wasn’t quite as smooth. I asked for “deal stage → Negotiation → create task + Slack ping.” It refused, explaining that I had no Negotiation stage and Slack wasn’t connected, then offered workarounds. When I rephrased with an existing stage (In Progress), it built a draft workflow in one prompt (14 tool calls, by its own count) and left it unpublished for me to review.

For the bigger picture on where this is heading, see Dani’s piece on AI agents for sales.

Can Attio Record and Summarize Your Calls?

Yes, but only on Pro and Enterprise, through a bot that joins Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams calls. By default, Attio records only external meetings on a synced calendar, so internal calls and anything unscheduled need a manual start.

How Do You Record an Internal or Last-Minute Call?

Press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on Mac), pick the meeting under Meetings, and switch Recording enabled to On. That’s it. It took me far longer to find than to do. Nothing under Calls or Call Intelligence points you there, and the only hint was an unlabeled “6 minutes” countdown in the sidebar that I only understood after I’d already figured it out myself.

Attio’s own troubleshooting page confirms it “does not auto-record internal calls”.

One big thing to remember is that the meeting must be on a calendar synced to Attio. There’s no “paste a meeting link” option, so a call that isn’t in your calendar can’t be recorded.

How Good Are Attio’s Call Summaries?

Attio’s summary was accurate but thin. It caught the seat expansion from 40 to 60, the $24,000 budget, the CFO’s security review, and the follow-up call with three named stakeholders, and it split talk time 53/47. What it didn’t produce was a single action item. The Insights panel said “No template selected,” and I only got follow-up tasks by clicking a preset prompt and spending more credits.

tl;dv recorded the same call. It pulled out six action items with owners and timestamps, plus the buyer’s requirements, evaluation criteria, and stakeholders, without me asking. It wasn’t perfect either, as you’ll see below, but it gave me a to-do list where Attio gave me a paragraph.

If call notes are the main reason you want call recording, compare the best meeting recorders for sales teams before paying for Pro.

Matt Leppington and Dani Jones discussed Acme Corp’s upcoming renewal and expansion from 40 to 60 seats, driven by sales team growth and the need to automate CRM note logging. Dani raised concerns about vendor visibility in customer calls, budget of around $24,000, and a security review that Tom the CFO would need before signing. They agreed Matt would send security documentation and a quote with 40-seat and 60-seat pricing, and set up a follow-up call next Thursday with Priya, Tom, and Leo.

Neither tool was flawless. tl;dv listed “60 additional seats” (it was 20 more, taking Acme from 40 to 60), Attio’s transcript heard “SOC 2” as “sub-two,” and Attio softened the competitor objection to “vendor visibility.” Recorded October 6, 2026.

There’s also a pricing angle. Attio Pro costs $79 per seat (billed annually) mainly to unlock call recording. Attio Plus at $35 with tl;dv Pro at $18 comes to $53 per seat, and tl;dv’s call recorder works with or without a bot. Attio Pro does unlock more than just calls (sequences, permissions, and advanced reporting), so run your own numbers.

What Permissions Does Attio Ask For?

To turn on call recording, Attio’s default request includes Gmail’s broadest permission: “Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your emails.” Google classifies that scope as Restricted, its highest-risk tier. You can untick it, but when I granted calendar access only, Call Intelligence wouldn’t switch on. It worked with calendar access plus “Send email on your behalf,” which Google rates as Sensitive.

I don’t think Attio is doing anything shady, but it did make me hesitant. Email sync is how it builds relationship data. But Google’s own OAuth best practices tell developers to “select the smallest, most limited scopes possible,” and the GDPR’s data minimization principle says personal data should be “limited to what is necessary”.

A call recorder that wants permission to send an email as you will be a tough sell for any security team. Consent is the other half of recording risk, which Dani covered in AI meeting recorder lawsuits. It’s also worth noting that Attio doesn’t allow for bot-free recording, which some teams prefer. tl;dv has both options.

Does Attio Work With tl;dv, Claude, and Zapier?

Yes. There’s no native tl;dv app in Attio, but the two connect through Claude (using both MCP servers) or through Zapier. Attio’s own app marketplace covers Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Zoom, and more, plus an API and webhooks.

Connecting Attio to Claude With MCP

This was the highlight of my test. The Model Context Protocol is an open standard for connecting AI apps to external tools, and Attio’s MCP server gives Claude 41 tools: 25 read-only and 16 that write or delete. All of them were set to “Needs approval” by default, which is the best option.

It’s easy to set up too. Just go to Claude > Customize > Connectors and then search “Attio”. You’ll be asked to sign in and give permissions and then it’s ready to go.

I asked Claude to summarize my tl;dv recording of the mock call, then create the company, add the summary as a note, create a $24,000 deal, and add a follow-up task in Attio. It asked permission before each write and did all four. It also set me as deal owner because Attio requires one, and flagged that the task deadline (Friday) didn’t match the “send docs today” promise from the call. That’s more judgment than most reps show on a Friday afternoon.

For more on the protocol, see my guide to Model Context Protocol, or check out the best Claude connectors or a similar setup for Pipedrive MCP. tl;dv’s MCP server is available on Pro and above.

Connecting tl;dv and Attio With Zapier

Zapier has a ready-made tl;dv to Attio template: when a recording is added in tl;dv, it creates a note in Attio. When I asked Zapier’s Copilot to build it, it added an “Upload Recording” step I hadn’t asked for. This is useful but it could also introduce steps you don’t want so check them all before publishing. The tl;dv side needs an API key, which comes with Pro and above. See all tl;dv integrations, or compare how this works with HubSpot integrations.

What Are Attio’s Pros and Cons?

Attio’s biggest strengths are its flexible data model and actually useful AI. Its weaknesses are credit metering, a Pro paywall on call recording, and a setup that assumes you’ll read the docs. Attio holds a 4.3 out of 5 rating on G2 from 594 reviews (checked October 2026).

Плюси

  • Build the CRM around your business, not the other way around.
  • Ask Attio answers sensibly and flags missing data instead of guessing.
  • Quick onboarding (a few minutes for me) and a fast interface.
  • A well-built MCP server, with approvals on by default.
  • Generous free plan and an automatic Pro trial.

Мінуси

  • AI usage is metered in credits.
  • Call recording, sequences, and advanced reporting need Pro.
  • Plus stops at 10 seats.
  • Enrichment and imports need checking.
  • Call recording asks for more Gmail access than it should need.
  • Key features (like recording internal calls) are hard to find.

Why does any of this matter? Because every minute a rep spends on CRM admin is a minute not spent selling. Salesforce’s latest research found that reps spend 60% of their time on non-selling tasks. A CRM that fills itself in is worth paying for. One you have to babysit isn’t.

Yes. Any view can be exported as a CSV or Excel file from the Import/Export menu, so you’re not locked in. There’s no single “export everything” button, though, so a full exit means exporting each object one view at a time.

Who Should Use Attio, and Who Shouldn’t?

Attio suits startups, founder-led sales teams, and anyone with an unusual pipeline (fundraising, recruiting, partnerships) who wants to shape their own CRM. If you’re a solo operator, it’s a strong pick alongside the options in Dani’s CRM for freelancers roundup.

It’s a weaker fit if you need:

  • Built-in marketing automation (HubSpot does more here).
  • Call recording on a tight budget.
  • Strict IT approval on Gmail access.
  • More than 10 seats without paying Pro prices.

Pipedrive remains the simpler choice for traditional pipeline selling, and its ecosystem is covered in my Pipedrive integrations guide. Folk, Close, and Affinity are other common alternatives.

So, Is Attio CRM Worth It?

Attio is worth it if you want a CRM you can shape yourself and an AI assistant that’s actually useful. It’s fast and pleasant to use once you know where things live, and the Claude connection felt like a preview of how CRMs will work next year. Budget for Pro if you want everything, keep an eye on credits, and check your enrichment data.

If calls are where your deals really happen, pair Attio with a dedicated meeting recorder rather than paying for Pro just for the bot. For the rest of your stack, here are the sales tools I’d shortlist.
