Conversation intelligence software has moved well beyond recording a call and handing you a transcript.

The stronger platforms can now search across customer conversations, score calls, track objections, coach reps, update CRM records, flag risks in open deals, and, in some cases, help reps while the conversation is still happening.

That also makes the category harder to compare. Some tools are built mainly for sales coaching. Others sit inside much larger revenue platforms. A few started as AI meeting assistants and have gradually added conversation intelligence features.

For this list, I focused on what I’d actually compare before buying: cross-call analysis, sales coaching, CRM sync, deal tracking, real-time support, integrations, and pricing.

What is conversation intelligence software?

Conversation intelligence software records and analyzes business conversations so teams can understand what happened, identify patterns, and decide what to do next.

Most platforms cover recording, transcription, summaries, and searchable call history. A full conversation intelligence platform usually goes further with capabilities such as call scoring, coaching, topic tracking, analysis across multiple conversations, CRM updates, or sales-opportunity signals. G2 currently tracks more than 200 products in the category, which explains why the term now covers a fairly wide range of software.

If you only need a transcript, a video transcript generator can work. If you also want timestamped summaries and action items, an AI meeting assistant may be enough.

For sales teams, conversation intelligence can answer questions such as:

  • Which objections keep appearing?
  • Are reps following the sales methodology?
  • Which calls need a manager’s attention?
  • What did the buyer say about budget, timing, or competitors?
  • Are important next steps missing?
  • Can information from the call be synced into the CRM automatically?

You may also see the phrase conversational intelligence used for this category. It should not be confused with conversational AI, which generally refers to systems such as chatbots or voice agents that conduct conversations themselves.

What should you look for in a conversation intelligence platform?

I wouldn’t start with whoever has the longest feature list. I’d start with what you need to happen after the call.

Cross-call insights: Can you search or analyze patterns across several conversations, or does the AI only work on one meeting at a time?

Sales coaching: Look for scorecards, sales playbooks, objection analysis, speaker insights, rep trends, and an easy route back to the call behind the result. Our sales coaching guide covers the metrics worth paying attention to.

CRM sync: Check what the integration actually does. Some tools attach notes. Others can update fields, create activities, or connect meetings to opportunities. See our guides to CRM integration and automated CRM logging for the difference.

Deal tracking: This means using call and CRM data to surface things such as missing next steps, stalled opportunities, buyer concerns, competitor mentions, or other risks associated with an open deal.

Live in-call coaching: Some platforms can surface an answer, battlecard, or recommendation while the rep is still speaking. Most still focus primarily on post-call analysis.

1. tl;dv

tl;dv - Best conversation intelligence software

Best for: Sales coaching, multi-meeting insights, and CRM automation

tl;dv records Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams calls and adds analysis across those conversations. Managers can monitor playbooks, compare objection handling, review speaker behaviour, leave feedback on call moments, and analyze patterns across multiple meetings.

I’d consider it tl;dv’s conversational intelligence feature when the main requirement is getting more coaching and customer insight from calls without moving into a full revenue forecasting platform.

Features you’re going to love:

  • Recurring Multi-Meeting Reports: Automatically track the same themes across new calls and receive updated findings regularly.
  • Objection Handling Coaching: Compare how reps handle objections against the response your team wants them to use.
  • Playbook Monitoring: Score conversations against MEDDIC, BANT, or your own custom sales framework.
  • Clips and Reels: Turn exact customer moments into reusable examples for coaching, onboarding, or internal teams.
  • Moment-Level Feedback: Leave coaching comments directly on the part of the conversation that needs attention.

If coaching is the priority, see tl;dv’s AI sales coaching platform.

3. Fathom

Fathom note-taker

Best for: Teams that want a simple platform that can grow into sales intelligence

Fathom still covers the meeting-assistant basics very well, but its team plans now include broader conversation intelligence features.

Pricing: Fathom’s free plan offers unlimited recordings, instant call summaries and some integrations. They have separate pricing for teams and individuals.

For individuals, Premium is at $16/user/month annually, Team is at $15/user/month annually with a two-user minimum, and Business is at $25/user/month annually with a two-user minimum. Enterprise pricing however requires contacting sales.

4. Avoma

Avoma conversation intelligence software

Best for: Structured sales coaching

Avoma separates its meeting assistant from its Conversation Intelligence and Revenue Intelligence add-ons.

Conversation Intelligence includes AI coaching recommendations, call scoring, Smart Trackers, and Global Ask Avoma. Revenue Intelligence adds deal risks, methodology tracking, win-loss analysis, and forecasting.

6. Jiminny

Jiminny conversation intelligence software

Best for: Coaching and monitoring active deals

Jiminny combines conversation intelligence, coaching, CRM automation, and Deal Insights.

Deal Insights can surface missing activity, missing future meetings, long periods without a buyer response, contacts involved in the opportunity, and CRM fields. Updates made in Jiminny can also sync back to the CRM.

Features you’re going to love

7. Chorus by ZoomInfo

ZoomInfo Conversation Intelligence Software

Best for: Teams already working heavily with ZoomInfo

Chorus records, transcribes, and analyzes sales conversations and is now part of the wider ZoomInfo environment.

Also see our Chorus alternatives guide.

Pricing: ZoomInfo does not currently publish a public Chorus rate card. I would list this as Contact ZoomInfo for pricing rather than repeat unverified third-party estimates. Current 2026 comparisons likewise list it as quote-based.

8. Fireflies.ai

Fireflies' conversational intelligence software

Best for: Affordable conversation intelligence with real-time sales assistance

Fireflies now combines meeting capture with CRM automation, sales qualification, deal intelligence, coaching, and real-time Sales Assist.

  • Voice Agents: Use AI agents for workflows such as lead qualification, discovery, and follow-up calls.

See our tl;dv vs Fireflies comparison.

How Managers Can Use Conversation Intelligence

Managers do not need to listen to every call from beginning to end.

A conversation intelligence platform can help them start with the calls that actually need attention, such as one with a missed playbook step, recurring objection, unusual talk ratio, weak next step, or signal that a deal may be losing momentum.

From there, managers can review the original moment, leave targeted feedback, save strong examples for onboarding, compare patterns across reps, and check whether the same issue appears again in later calls.

I’d still keep human review in the loop. AI scoring and summaries are useful for deciding where to look, but the conversation itself provides the context behind the score.

How I’d Choose a Conversation Intelligence Platform

I’d choose based on the problem you are trying to fix.

If sales coaching is the priority, compare tl;dv, Gong, Avoma, and Jiminny for scorecards, playbook monitoring, objection handling, and manager feedback.

If CRM admin is eating up rep time, look closely at what each platform can actually write back to your CRM, not just whether it has an integration.

If active-deal visibility matters most, Gong, Salesloft Conversation Intelligence, Jiminny, Fathom, Avoma’s Revenue Intelligence add-on, and Fireflies all connect conversation data with deal-level signals in different ways. Salesloft specifically feeds conversation signals into deal health and forecast workflows.

If live in-call support is essential, look more closely at Avoma, Salesloft Conversation Intelligence, and Fireflies. Salesloft currently provides real-time coaching during calls, including guidance around objections and difficult conversations.

And if you mainly need notes, summaries, and action items, I would not pay for a heavyweight conversation intelligence stack. An AI meeting assistant may already cover what you need.

FAQs About Conversation Intelligence Software

Conversation intelligence is the use of AI and software to analyze business conversations and turn them into useful data. Teams can use it to identify recurring objections, understand customer needs, improve sales coaching, track competitors, and find patterns across multiple calls.

You may also see the term conversational intelligence used in this context, although it is sometimes used more broadly for technologies that interpret or participate in conversations.

Conversation intelligence software records and analyzes customer conversations so teams can understand what happened and what should happen next. More advanced tools add capabilities such as automated call scoring, playbook monitoring, CRM updates, multi-call analysis, deal intelligence, and real-time sales guidance.

A conversation intelligence platform brings conversation data into one place so teams can search calls, analyze patterns, coach reps, track customer signals, and connect meeting insights with systems such as the CRM.

The exact capabilities vary. Some platforms focus mainly on sales coaching, while others combine conversation intelligence with deal management, forecasting, or revenue intelligence.

The best conversation intelligence software depends on what you need it to do.

tl;dv is strong for multi-meeting analysis, coaching, and CRM workflows. Gong and Salesloft Conversation Intelligence connect calls more closely with deals and wider revenue workflows. Avoma offers structured coaching and live assistance, while Fireflies combines conversation analytics with real-time sales features and AI workflows.

Managers can use conversation intelligence to identify calls that need attention without listening to every recording. They can spot missed playbook steps, recurring objections, unusual rep behaviour, weak next steps, and potential deal risks.

They can then return to the original conversation for context, leave targeted feedback, compare patterns across reps, and save strong examples for onboarding or training.

Yes. Most leading conversation intelligence platforms integrate with CRMs such as Salesforce and HubSpot.

The depth of the integration varies. Some tools simply attach notes and summaries, while others can update CRM fields, create activities, connect calls to opportunities, or combine CRM and conversation data for deal analysis.

Some conversation intelligence software can analyze multiple conversations at once. This can help teams identify recurring objections, competitor mentions, customer requests, coaching patterns, or changes in buyer sentiment without reviewing every call individually.

How much data can be analyzed at once depends on the platform and plan.

An AI meeting assistant usually focuses on recording, transcription, summaries, and action items.

Conversation intelligence software typically adds deeper analysis, such as sales coaching, call scorecards, playbook monitoring, multi-meeting insights, CRM automation, deal intelligence, or real-time rep guidance.

The cost of conversation intelligence software varies significantly. Tools such as Fathom, Fireflies, and tl;dv offer self-service plans, while platforms such as Gong and Salesloft Conversation Intelligence use quote-based pricing.

Compare the price of the plan that includes the features you actually need, especially coaching, CRM automation, deal intelligence, and advanced AI features.
